About the role: What's in the Box
The service provider will contribute to the Shopping tribes within the Consumer Alliance, which oversee the core shopping experience across mobile and web applications—ranging from menu discovery and search to cart management and checkout. As a Senior Staff Mobile Engineer, the external expert will focus on shaping the high-level architecture and technical quality of the React Native mobile application that powers this global experience. This engagement involves providing high-level technical direction across multiple squads to ensure the scalability and modularity of the consumer-facing platforms.
What you’ll do: The Recipe
- Define and drive the mobile architecture and engineering standards across the alliance, ensuring solutions are scalable and modular.
- Drive a unified app and web context management strategy to support quality assurance workflows and AI-driven agentic development lifecycle tooling.
- Optimize GraphQL API usage and data fetching patterns within the mobile application.
- Provide significant hands-on contributions to the codebase to implement core architectural patterns.
- Communicate technical direction, trade-offs, and project milestones to primary stakeholders and senior management.
- Collaborate with peers across engineering, product, and design, offering expert perspectives on technical feasibility and system design.
What you’ll bring: The Ingredients
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI-supported and agentic ways of working, with a drive to implement these methodologies at an enterprise scale.
- Deep expertise in React Native, with extensive experience delivering complex, large-scale mobile applications.
- Proven track record in architecting modular mobile systems and leading large-scale technical migrations.
- Versatility to contribute to backend services or web codebases as required by project demands.
- Experience with GraphQL and React for web is highly desirable.
