Position Description:

Okta Engineering is looking for a Software Engineer Manager to help us scale and increase velocity. You will be driving and perfecting our vision of Continuous Delivery, increasing the velocity and productivity of engineering. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, including Engineers, Architects, Operations, Program Management, and Quality. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the strategy for building and incorporating AI/ML-powered tools to enhance developer velocity, automate complex tasks in the Continuous Integration, and provide intelligent insights into system performance and code quality.
  • Ability to articulate and drive a technical, strategic vision and roadmap
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Security, Program Management, Operations and other scrum teams.
  • Recruit and mentor a globally distributed and talented group of diverse employees
  • Build high quality tools and automation for internal use to support continuous delivery and developer productivity
  • Roll out deliverables to internal customers in phases, monitor adoption, collect feedback, and fine-tune the project to respond to internal customers’ needs.
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement
  • Foster, enable and promote innovation

REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A track record of leading or managing high performing platform teams (3 year experience minimum)
  • Experience with end to end project delivery; building roadmaps through operational sustainability
  • Strong facilitation skills (design, requirements gathering, progress and status sessions)
  • Production experience with distributed systems running in AWS. GCP a bonus
  • Passion about automation and leveraging agile software development methodologies
  • Experience in developing Continuous Delivery pipelines for a diverse set of projects using Java, Jenkins, AWS, Docker, Python, Ruby, Bash, and more
  • Experience in building internal developer tools

Education and Training:

  • B.S. in CS or equivalent
