Staff Engineer, Intelligent Platforms

About the role: What's in the Box

The service provider will collaborate with HelloFresh's GenAI Enablement Squad, a cross-functional unit building AI capabilities that drive measurable impact across engineering and business operations. In this role, the contractor will provide technical leadership across foundational AI platform capabilities that enable teams to build, deploy, and scale AI solutions reliably and efficiently.

This is a hands-on technical delivery engagement. The external expert will set technical direction, provide technical guidance to engineers, and directly contribute to building core platform capabilities such as model gateways, routing systems, shared agent infrastructure, plugin ecosystems, and developer tooling. The initiative operates at the intersection of AI and platform engineering, focusing on solving high-impact problems pragmatically. Interacting with engineers, product managers, and primary stakeholders across the organization is a core part of this service delivery.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Provide technical leadership across GenAI platform initiatives by setting standards, driving architectural decisions, and unblocking engineering tracks.
• Build, deploy, and operate production AI platform systems in AWS including model gateways, model routing systems, agent runtimes, plugin ecosystems, shared context capabilities, and developer tooling.
• Drive service delivery and evolve integrations with managed AI platforms such as AWS Bedrock and broader model ecosystems.
• Contribute to HelloFresh's golden path for AI engineering, establishing how AI-powered systems are built, evaluated, deployed, governed, and operated responsibly.
• Develop platform capabilities around governance, telemetry, security controls, and observability in close collaboration with Security teams.
• Surface architectural patterns from delivery work to generalize them into shared platform capabilities while maintaining a pragmatic and thin-platform approach.
• Ensure system reliability through cost optimization, latency optimization, operational excellence, and production readiness.
• Offer technical guidance and knowledge sharing to grow engineering capabilities, acting as the key technical point of contact for complex problem-solving.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

• Deep hands-on experience building production GenAI systems and platform capabilities, including agent orchestration, RAG, LLM evaluation, model routing, and cost or latency optimization.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and a proven track record of designing reliable, observable, production-grade systems.
• Extensive experience building, deploying, and operating distributed systems within AWS ecosystems.
• Practical experience with managed AI services such as AWS Bedrock or equivalent platform offerings.
• Demonstrated expertise building shared platform capabilities or internal developer infrastructure.
• Strong technical understanding of observability, security, governance, scalability, and cost management.
• A proven history of translating complex requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity where project direction evolves quickly and you help shape the technical execution.
• A collaborative mindset: strong opinions, loosely held—knowing when to push back on technical merits and when to move quickly once alignment is reached.
