Senior Software Engineer

About the role: What's in the Box

The external service provider will contribute to the Consumer Mega Alliance, specifically anchoring the technical direction within the Customer Food Profile Squad. This business-to-business engagement is focused on defining and driving the technical strategy to maximize the retention of millions of active customers by architecting optimized, scalable solutions for subscription management and product ordering. The contractor will drive the service delivery for critical customer-facing systems, transitioning the platform towards complex, data-driven personalization, including the global expansion of the food profile and the development of an implicit food profile based on user behavior.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Architectural Service Delivery: Define, design, and implement scalable, resilient architecture for mission-critical microservices, ensuring operational stability and adherence to DevOps best practices.

• Strategic Project Deliverables: Independently drive key initiatives, including the global roll-out of the food profile feature and developing the implicit profiling engine that learns from user behavior and ratings.

• Technical Authority & Knowledge Sharing: Act as the technical authority on the core product architecture, proactively simplifying code, resolving architecture deficiencies, and providing technical guidance to engineering peers on design approaches and quality.

• Product Engineering Collaboration: Partner strategically with Product Owners and Designers as the primary stakeholders, influencing feature definition and clarifying requirements to ensure optimal technical alignment.

• Operational Excellence: Apply deep expertise to solve complex problems across a wide range of platforms to ensure system reliability and performance, mitigating immediate risks and managing critical system escalations.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

• Experience: 5+ years of proven expertise in backend development, spanning Monolithic, Microservice, and distributed event-driven architectural patterns.

• AI Fluency: Solid hands-on experience leveraging AI coding agents (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) as engineering thought partners for planning, bug fixing, testing, and creating reusable skills/agents. Demonstrated ability to verify, test, and set boundaries on AI-generated work, with a practical understanding of how input context shapes output quality.

• Core Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in Go (or proven proficiency in JVM/Kotlin, Java, or Ruby with a commitment to rapidly adapt to Go).

  • Proven track record of designing and delivering high-impact services using container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.

  • Extensive, practical experience implementing true Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Proficiency in software design patterns like TDD, BDD, DDD, and distributed architectural patterns.

  • Experience with event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka and/or RabbitMQ.

  • Working knowledge of MongoDB and PostgreSQL.

• Bonus Skills: Familiarity with e-commerce environments, subscription-based business models, and GraphQL integration is considered a significant advantage.
