Job Summary

In this role, you will sit at the intersection of product intent, technical delivery, and cross-team collaboration. You will not be responsible for defining product strategy alone, nor for managing people — instead, your focus is on enabling your team to deliver the right technical outcomes & contributions to wider customer and business outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with engineers and developers, navigating dependencies, and bringing clarity to complex systems.
The Team
The software teams this role supports operate from bare metal silicon all the way to the top of the Machine learning tools stack. Our organisation is structured around component-based engineering teams within the engineering function, and you will play a key role in one or more of these teams.
Responsibilities and Duties
Own and Shape the Component Backlog:
- Create and maintain team roadmaps for the Program Increment (PI) and long term plan to help visualise the current backlog and communicate status and progress to all stakeholders.
- Translate feature-level intent into actionable component-level work and feedback team intent and challenges to help shape the features with the Product Manager.
- Maintain a clear, prioritised backlog of Epics and Stories for your component team.
- Ensure all work is clearly linked to higher-level product outcomes.
Support Delivery Across Sprints and Planning Increments:
- Actively support sprint planning, reviews, demos, providing visual outputs that demonstrate progress against the plan, learnings and changes.
- Involve the team in the right discussions to ensure desired outcomes are realistic, and the team’s ability to deliver them are clearly communicated.
- Ensure the backlog is sufficiently maintained to prepare for PI planning, identifying dependencies and risks early and aligning with other teams on the scope taken into planning.
- Ensure your team’s work aligns with agreed PI objectives.
Coordinate Across Teams:
- Work closely with other Product Owners, Product Managers, and Technical Leads to manage cross-team dependencies.
- Coordinate early with QA and Performance teams to support integrated delivery.
- Help ensure integration and system behaviour are planned.
Champion Quality, Collaboration, and Trust:
- Define clear component-level acceptance criteria and support readiness for integration and release.
- Contributing to a growing community of practise developing ways of working to find the best way to deliver
- Encourage open discussion, early risk-sharing, and constructive challenge.
- Act as a servant leader: removing obstacles, protecting team focus, and enabling empowered decision-making.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Experience working as a Product Owner (or similar role) in an agile environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
